In 2024, the integration of AI in design tools has become increasingly prevalent, with platforms like Uizard.io. But will AI save some lives for generating mockups? In this article, we are going to take a deep dive into their process and evaluate the effectiveness of Uizard.io.

Upon launch, the process starts you off with a basic text prompt asking for what product or feature you are looking to design. For example, 'Website for a small business providing services for the sale of coffee from Brazil.'
Choose the design style that matches your concept Type in specific keywords that describe your style, e.g. modern, minimalistic or futuristic but also fun and funky to narrow it down further
This next page is the Desing Generation, after you have written up your idea and chosen a style click generate. Uizard. Io AI will generate all the individual parts of your design on a single screen, from buttons and images to labels.
While the intuitive interface may make it accessible for anyone with no design background to build their website, AI web designer produce layouts that appear much like a template rather than having originality typical of work created by human designers. This is the problem that can make designs bland and not unique.
The color schemes picked by the AI can also be horribly misunderstood. Also the proportions are wrong, there is no balance and consistency across design.
So Uizard works for quick prototyping and rough idea visualization. This practice might help project teams move fast, brainstorm ad-hoc ideas and create a visualization without days of design work.
Therefore the designs a tool generates is not yet consumer-ready. With its template-like nature and inconsistent color and font choices, these designs need to be polished by a human designer in order for them to look digestible and actually work.
So in summary, building AI mockups using tools like Uizard may save you a fair amount of time and can be super beneficial when it comes to early portion the design process, or for prototyping as well. The output, however needs a lot of work. It would be much easier for an experienced designer to create a layout from scratch than to correct all the irregularities in the existing one.
We're not there AI, designer here to stay.
