A Proof of Concept (PoC) is an essential step when developing a mobile app to show that it should work and can be made a reality without using too many resources on your end.
The first step is to lay down the goals you want to accomplish with your PoC. Figure out which main properties and functionalities need to be tested This will help you to focuse on the important part of your app and make sure that your PoC is lean and mean
Know your audience and environment Check what apps are there already and find new solutions to solve the uncharted problems. This research will help you shape your idea and to make sure that users are in agreement with what you want to solve.
Create a wireframe and prototype design to demonstrate your app's interface and user experience (UI/UX). These could be Figma, Sketch, Adobe XD and etc. There by you can see the mock ups in form of visual representations so, it would give you and your stakeholders idea how our app actually looks like.
Choose the technologies and tools for PoC. That means choosing the web or app development platform (native iOS and Android, cross-platform frameworks, backend services & 3rd-party APIs) for your project.
Create an MVP (Minimum Viable Product) for the app concept. It should be able to showcase the main point of the concept and people should be able to use it so they can provide feedback. The goal is to make the PoC simple and easy to use while maintain simplicity.
Assess the results against what you set out to achieve during your PoC Analyze whether it is doing the core functionalities properly and fulfilling its basic reason to be. Refine your idea and do any necessary changes based on the feedback and test results before moving to full-fledged development requirements.
Validate your idea with stakeholders, investors or just generally bring your PoC to potential users. The presentation must be with a demo, features and some feedback/results of the testing. This is the stage where validation matters to secure funding or support for driving ahead in building it further.
Following these steps will allow you to make a strong PoC for your mobile app — enabling you to have the right platform on which to build before proceeding with full-scale development.
